Volunteer Spotlight
Cassie Steele
During the summer months, Cassie Steele is a daily fixture around our barn. She has chosen to spend the majority of her summer break helping out at Dream Catchers for the past two summers – and when we say helping out, we mean really digging in and helping out. Cassie used to look at us funny when we asked her to do strange things like “dress up” a horse in the middle of July in Christmas decorations and take a picture of him, but she quickly learned that around here we do some strange and interesting things. Cassie has become a favorite counselor among our Junior Volunteer Horse Camps this summer, and she is extremely creative in her horse-related crafts for the campers and in her work-service projects that she coordinates for them.
During the school year, Cassie was at Dream Catchers once or twice a week helping out in lessons or leading the Junior Volunteers with their service projects (cleaning grooming boxes, mucking pastures, and bathing horses). She is a dedicated advocate for our horses and is always quick to notice when one needs a little extra TLC.
We are grateful to have Cassie as one of our hard-working volunteers – she is an excellent role model to our younger volunteers and one of the shining stars of our program.
